Vision Aid Overseas: Lidiya from Zambia
Lidiya lives in a small village in Zambia. She always had major problems with her eyes and even walking without assistance was a struggle. She was unable to benefit from school so she never managed to get a job.
Most of her time was spent at home although there was little she could do to help her mother. Fortunately she visited a VAO clinic where she was given an eyetest and found to be in need of very strong spectacles with -12.00 lenses for both eyes. The VAO team provided a pair which made an immediate and dramatic improvement to her vision. She left the clinic unaided, her quality of life transformed.
