Eye 2 eye Campaign: About Frank
Frank has multiple disabilities and very complex needs. He is 30 years old and has never had an eye test before. His mother was becoming increasing anxious about how he kept rubbing his eyes and making them sore.
SeeAbility staff escorted Frank and his mother to an appointment at the opticians and subsequent appointment at the eye clinic due to suspected glaucoma. The appointment went well and glaucoma was ruled out. Frank was prescribed drops to help with his dry red eyes.
Frank coped better with the appointment as the consultant used more advanced equipment which meant he didn’t have to come up close to him as they did at the opticians which caused him distress. We provided information to his mum on using eye drops and introducing glasses for people with learning disabilities. She was so impressed with the service from SeeAbility’ and the eye clinic that she emailed people within the council and Care Trust to say so.
